Acutely aware of the fact that I don't blog as much as I would like to, albeit in a little of a rush, today I close the month of October with a shoot I did for Helen Sylk. Apart from being my trusty MUA for my shoots, Helen also writes music and lyrics for techno and trance tracks, and works closely with her partner and DJ Marcos, producing music.
Helen needed some photos to update her profile and for promotion purposes and I used both the Orbis flash as well as my SB 600 and natural light on my trusty Nikon 50mm f1.4
I hope you like the images as much as I do and look forward to your comments. :)
Nice shots Antonella. Really like the first and last photos. The colours and shapes in the background of the first image make a nice backdrop to Helen. There is two dimensional flatness to the overall image that like. Great composition and styling for the final shot too. Great work.
ReplyDeleteJust a personal preference, I like the 3rd photo with deeper colours
ReplyDeleteHi Peter,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the nice words. The bi dimensionality is an effect of the light used, creating the glow in Helen's skin and the colours in the stones where normally we would see none. Modifying light is arguably one of the most powerful tools a photographer has. :)
Hello Jon,
ReplyDeleteThe third shot proved to be one of the most difficult to take from that set. The SB600 is not powerful enough to counteract the intensity of very strong sunlight at relatively low angle. However, some careful positioning allowed me to make the best of the light emitted to bring out Helen's elegant bone structure.
Glad you like the shot! :)
