Great Yarmouth in the snow

What a few days of cold weather we have had!!  Great Yarmouth is nearly the most easterly point in the UK and exposed to bitterly cold winds from the Arctic sometimes.. but because we have coastal currents it's very difficult for snow to lay.  We've been having some snow flurries on and off but this morning we woke up to a glorious scene! :)

I went out for a short walk in the subzero temps this morning and captured a few images to share with you.... I was so careful not to slip after a number of falls in the ice I had yesterday (long story involving very icy roads and an enthusiastic dog!)... and people must have been wondering why I was walking so gingerly... but my back still hurts :(
Thankfully me and my camera made it home in one piece.

Hope you like the photos and look forward to your comments :)

and by the way..... Best wishes for a lovely Christmas to all of you!!! x

Great Yarmouth Christmas lights switch on

I picked my camera up this evening on my way to watch the Christmas lights switch on here in Great Yarmouth.

I've been here three and a half years and hadn't been to a Christmas light switch on before, so I set off with my son Matt this eve to have a look at what was going on.  I must admit the camera came out only after we had something to eat, as we were both hungry and a little bit tired, but when we hit the Market place just after the switch on, we found some interesting stuff to look at, and some interesting people to photograph.

We missed Father Christmas and Mr Snowman, but we came across the Mayor, a Viking couple, met Mr Glow man, watched the fireworks and had an interesting wander round whilst a band called Scratch the Cat played and made the little ones dance.
Here's a selection of photos from the evening, hope you like them :)

Justine's model portfolio

Time goes by too quickly, and I'm not blogging as often as I'd like to... I have several sets of images I'd like to share with you but everything else seems to take precedence.

I've been working with Justine for the last couple of months; she is just starting out as a model and we have been working together on images for her portfolio.

She is terrifically easy to work with, and has a good work ethic.  She has never left me waiting, or cancelled at the last moment like others do, follows my directing, and understands what I want to achieve from the shoot.

I do look forward to working more with her, and have a few more shoots in the pipeline... the weather at the moment is perfect for some moody work I've got in mind :)

Meanwhile, have a look at the images we've produced....

If you're a model and would like to discuss a portfolio with us, drop us an email.  We can offer competitive rates and creative location work to add interest to your portfolio of images.

Now logging off to prepare for a trip to attend to Mark Cleghorn's photoshop tour in the morning.  Will blog soon with more photographic goodness to look at... I promise :)

Sneak preview: Liza & Joe's Rock and Roll Wedding

Finally I get the chance to upload a few photos as a sneak preview of Liza Wolfe and Joe Hood's Wedding at Caldecott Hall, in Fritton last weekend...

and what a wedding it was... a rock and roll affair for Liza has her own band, which Joe helps to manage. The attention to detail was exquisite and the whole event was fantastically organised, down to the supporting band for the music, the burlesque act that followed, and a magician entertaining guests as an after wedding breakfast treat.

Was that all, err no....

the wedding was filmed by Virgin Media crew for the series 'Four Weddings' and we worked with the filming team as the day unfolded... you should see our faces when Liza and Joe just 'happened' to mention that there would be a filming crew around....

Did we mind? Of course we didn't , but the jitters that followed in those weeks leading to the wedding, as Davis & Co calculated each and everything that could go wrong, were a teeny bit nerve wracking. :)

More photos to follow soon as I continue with the post processing... Hope you like the work :)

The Vegas Fame Index gig

I covered the Vegas Fame Index gig last Friday at B2 as part of an ongoing collaboration with Sound Norfolk. The evening was a busy one, I had 5 bands to tog, although my focus was on the Vegas Fame Index who were headlining.

The evening was interesting, both photographically and musically, and now I have a few more bands that I've become interested in and will be following as a fan, but this posting will concentrate on The Vegas Fame Index as I will leave the mass of photos from the other bands over for other blog postings.

I came home feeling that the headliners didn't get the shots I was hoping for. I wondered whether I'd get strong images I had hoped for, but whilst Si and the boys from Norwich belted out a great set which got the audience hyped up, I later found a little bit of magic had indeed happened in my camera's sensor via my buttery sweet lens ;)

I hope you like the images, which should hopefully go up on the Sound Norfolk site at some point soon.

Drop me an email if you want me to cover your gig or work with you on some promotional material :)

Serve Chilled (previously k/a Thick Trick Chloe)

In the midst of portfolio building and ongoing self directed learning, I was recently asked to photograph a gig for a friend of mine at B2 in Norwich. I have three sets of photos from the bands that played that night, and I'm starting my coverage with the first band of the night ...

Serve Chilled started off the evening with a lot of energy, whilst I strayed left and right of the stage until I found a position I was happy with.

B2 is not too large an area and I was happily shooting with my 50mm wide open sucking up any available light on the band playing punk rock tunes to the crowd...

I'm pretty happy with this set of photos and hope Andy and his band are too :)

I wish Andy and his band the best of luck with their music.... In the meantime please keep visiting my blog... promise i'll post more gig stuff soon! (and model shoots and wedding photography, and and and.... :) )
