Some of you will know who Zack Arias is.... Apart from being a kick ass photographer he is also a truly inspirational person.
I've been following his blog and podcasts for a while, so his 'Call for Action' caught my eye... Can I take up a photographic project that will help the community?
Zack's proposed timetable for this was a bit tough to follow for me, as I'm essentially a part time pro photographer with a concurrent other professional job, hence my posting for this a little late, for which I apologise, but I'm so happy my photos will be useful for a community that is doing a lot of good in Great Yarmouth.
It didn't take me too long to find a project that needed my help (indeed OUR help as my partner joined me in this - Thanks Paul!!!!). The beneficiary for our local project was the Kings Centre. These guys do a lot of good work with local youth and provide a source of activities and support for teenagers in this area. I feel it is so very important to pass on good values to our children and their work is to be lauded. I sincerely hope they will like the photographs and that they will be used in promoting their good work.
Many thanks to Rachel Bent and Nick Cowan for giving me the go ahead to do this project for them!
We visited Kings Centre on a Friday evening, when they hold their Youthnet activities, which include indoor sports - badminton and football, pool and table tennis and also have a section with games such as Wii and a lounge area where people can chill out.
From the photographic front this turned out to be yet again another challenge for me... I hadn't yet worked in an environment filled with superactive young teens, flitting all over the place and getting very excited at all that was going on. It was so difficult to keep up with them!!! I must admit I went home with a headache... all the more credit to the volunteers who do this regularly!!! :)
I do hope you like the output from this session.....

My next help project with be following the Help Portrait 'Call for action' on December 12... I hope that photographers who are reading this will take this up as there are very few who are doing this in the UK....
More about this soon :)
